Ten Easy Tech Hacks

easy tech hacksSave time and money with these ten easy tech hacks:

  1. Charge your phone faster. Your phone will charge faster if you set it to Airplane Mode. This will stop the battery drain that staying connected requires and will speed up the charging process.
  2. Download any video on YouTube. You can download videos on YouTube by typing “ss” before the “YouTube” part of a video’s link. For example, www.youtube.com/watch… becomes www.ssyoutube.com/watch… Or you can copy and paste the YouTube link into this video-converter and download the video in MP3 format. Just make sure the videos you download aren’t copyrighted.
  3. Need to jot down something quickly while browsing? Open a temporary notepad right in your browser by typing “data:text/html, <html contenteditable>” into the address bar, then type in the white space.
  4. Go to HaveIBeenPwned.com to check if your email address has been compromised in a data breach.
  5. Try HONEY. After you install the app on your browser, it will automatically apply coupon codes it finds at checkout. This is a new one for me, and I am going to try it!
  6. Paste your blog post or document into PolishMyWriting.com to clear typos, grammar mistakes and get help with writing styles.
  7. Use keyboard short cuts. Here’s a good one. Hitting the Spacebar scrolls down a web page; hitting the Spacebar + Shift scrolls back up.
  8. When booking flights or hotels online, clear cookies before you start looking, or go into Incognito mode. The website will not “remember” you and may give you lower prices.
  9. Use your cellphone to take pictures of important notices, receipts, invitations, business cards, shopping lists for easy access. Never lose your important note or receipts again.  You can keep them on your cellphone for easy access.  I keep a picture of my license plate so I do not have to remember it when paying for parking at some machines.
  10. Take a picture of your important list, schedule, shopping list, errands, etc. and set the image as the wallpaper for your phone.
