Spring Cleaning for Marketing Success

marketingSpring Cleaning for Marketing Success:

Spring is here and summer is just around the corner, and like your house, your marketing plan and tools can accumulate clutter over the course of the year.  It’s time for some spring cleaning.

Here are three ways to make sure your internet marketing is current and efficient:

1 Clean up your email mailing list:

Bounced back and duplicate emails are not effective and can damage your credibility with clients. Go through your email lists to verify that names, email addresses and other important information is still current. Delete duplicate, inactive and incomplete entries.

2 Clean up your Social Media accounts:

Take a good look at all your social media accounts.  Are you using them regularly?  Is your contact information correct?  If you use LinkedIn, do you need to update your profile?  Focus on how these accounts can best serve your business. Check that your content still works with your marketing plan.  Has your social media plan changed? Do your analytics show any weak areas that need improvement? Answer these questions to know if you need to update your social accounts.

3 Update your website:

Go through each page on your website to ensure all content is current. Have you launched a new product or service?  Is your contact information current?  Have you linked to your press releases? Do all links work? Don’t let outdated information and content weigh down your marketing plan. Spring-cleaning is important for long term success.  When most people first launch their website, it’s pretty light-weight. As time goes on, however, new plugins, media, themes, and possibly even changed WordPress core coding can be added. There is nothing wrong with making these changes; however, sometimes old media, plugins, themes, comments, coding, and links are left behind, causing your website to slowly get bloated.  Don’t wait for spring.  Maintenance on your WordPress website should be done monthly to keep it running fast and to keep it secure.
