What Makes a Good Website:
No matter what sort of website you have, there are certain elements that all websites should have in order to make a good website that does what it is supposed to do. If your website is not doing what it should, then you need to examine your website to see where it can be improved. Here are some elements that all websites should have:
- Easy to navigate: Make sure your website is easy to navigate. If someone comes to your website, they need to be able to easily find what they are looking for in a few easy clicks. If it takes too long for them to find what they are looking for, they will leave.
- Call to action: People need to be told what to do. Have great calls to action on all pages of the website so they know where to go on your website and what they should be doing.
- Mobile friendly: All websites should be responsive or mobile friendly so that your website can be easily viewed on any device.
- Professional: Your website needs to look professional. If it looks like a friend did your website for free, then you will lose visitors to your more professional looking competitor. Your website is one of your most important advertising tools, so it is important that it looks great to be a good website.
- Great text content: Your text content is the most important part of your website. For SEO purposes, you should have at least 300 words on each page and the text should be optimized for one main keyword that is mentioned several times in the text. (Do not overuse your keywords.) Also, the text should be exciting and interesting to the reader so they will want to explore your website more and purchase from you.
- Trust: People will not buy from you if they do not trust you. If possible, include several ways for people to contact you. Having at least a phone and an email address. If people know they can easily contact you if they have a problem with their order, they are more likely to buy from you.
- Set yourself up as an expert: If you set yourself up as the expert to go to in your niche, people are more likely to trust you and buy from you. An easy way to do this is to have a blog on your website and post useful information on your blog. By providing information, you are showing your clients that you are the expert and people will come to you for advice and to buy.
If you have all of the above elements on your website, your website should prove to be a good website. If something is not working, then investigate what changes you need to make to your website so that you have a good website that is doing its job.
