Facebook for Business – Ads and Pages

Facebook-iconFacebook for Business – Ads and Pages:

I attended the Facebook for Business seminar in Richmond BC. Here is what I learned.

Facebook is the social media network that most people use. Most Facebook users sign into Facebook 14 times a day. Canadians use Facebook more than any other country, with over 16 million people signing in daily. This makes advertising on Facebook an excellent idea for any business.

Since most people check their Facebook account on their smartphones, it is important to gear your Facebook ads to show up on mobile devices. With recent changes to Facebook advertising, Facebook for Business makes it easy to place your ads so they show up on mobile devices.

To set up a business page go to Facebook for Business. When setting up your page, make sure all your business information is complete and accurate. This is especially important in the “about” tab. Fill in as much of your business information as you can. This will make your business on Facebook easier to find. (I will be posting detailed information on how to set up a Facebook page soon in my next blog post.)

When you post to your page make sure your posts are engaging, unique and informative. If you had a new client standing in front of you right now, what would you want to say to them? This is what you post. Speak to your new client. You can include personal stories, if they are relevant to your business. Also, write about your community involvement and current news that is relevant to your business.

Not all posts will show up on people newsfeeds. Only the most engaging and relevant posts will show up. So, know your business goals, and know your business audience and what they are looking for. Your topics can include: a new product or service, introducing a new employee, tips and recommendations. Be sure these posts are on your page, not your personal account.

Use attractive images with your posts to attract attention. If you should get a negative comment, respond quickly. Often a negative can be turned into a positive, and you show people that you are trying to resolve the problem. You can boost your best posts from even more exposure.

Post to your Facebook page two or three times a day. Don’t have time? Delegate someone to do this for you. It is very important to be active on your Facebook page. Nothing looks worse than a Facebook page that is not active.

To set up Facebook ads go to Facebook for Business and click on Ads. From here you have many tools at your disposal. Most Facebook ads appear on the right side of the Facebook account. You can target your ads to specific people by uploading your mailing list and when you post an ad, it will show up on their Facebook accounts. You can also target ads to people who have visited your website, and what they have searched for. In addition, you can target your ads to send people to your Facebook page or to your website.

Through the Facebook for Business portal, you have full control of your Facebook ads budget so you will never spend more than you can afford. Once you have created your ads, test and measure the results using Facebook’s tools to see which ads are performing best.

Facebook for Business offers two Apps so you can manage your page and your ads on your mobile device. These apps are “Facebook Pages Manager” and “Facebook Ads Manager”. Both apps are available for iPhone and Android devices.
